Which CITB Test Do You Need?

Identification Required for Your CITB Test

Candidates must strictly comply with CITB's official identification requirements on the day of the test. Identification documents must normally be original. Photocopies or digital copies are not accepted except where CITB specifically permits digital verification, such as an eVisa verified through the UKVI View & Prove service.

  • Original and in-date: ID must be an original document and valid (not expired).
  • Name Match: The name on your identification must exactly match the name provided during test booking.
  • Acceptable Primary ID: A valid UK or international passport, a valid UK or European Photocard Driving Licence, or an eVisa verified through the UKVI View & Prove service.
  • Secondary ID: If you do not possess an acceptable Primary ID, you must present two valid Secondary forms of ID (one photo ID and one with signature) or an official CITB ID Waiver form approved before your test.
  • Admissions Notice: Candidates without acceptable identification will not be admitted by the test centre and the test fee will not be refunded.

Important Notice Before Booking

  • Arrival Time: Candidates must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their test appointment. Late arrivals cannot be admitted.
  • No Outcome Guarantee: Construction Helps provides independent booking administration. Passing the test depends entirely on candidate knowledge and examination performance. No outcome is guaranteed.
  • Rescheduling & Cancellations: Standard CITB policy requires a minimum of 72 hours notice to reschedule or cancel a test appointment. Rescheduling requests made with less than 72 hours notice will result in the loss of the test fee.

Can I reschedule my test?

What identification do I need on test day?

You must present an acceptable Primary ID (a valid UK or international passport, a valid UK or European Photocard Driving Licence, or an eVisa verified through the UKVI View & Prove service) matching your booking name, or two valid Secondary IDs in accordance with the official CITB ID policy.

How long is the test result valid?

For CSCS card applications, the appropriate CITB Test normally must have been passed within the previous two years. Other card schemes may have their own requirements.
